Ezek 28:13 Thou hast been in Eden the garden of God; every precious stone was thy covering, the sardius, topaz, and the diamond, the beryl, the onyx, and the jasper, the sapphire, the emerald, and the carbuncle, and gold: the workmanship of thy tabrets and of thy pipes was prepared in thee in the day that thou wast created.

Since creation, Satan has been a creature connected with music. This description sounds exactly like a Rock Musician on stage, the showiness, the lights, If Satan was an expert in the use of music, it is logical that he is now using this talent against the children of God and the work of the Lord.

From rebellion to debauchery, death, sex, drugs, addictions and excesses of all kinds are the elements of Rock and Roll and they identify with it. It is not surprising that Satan attacks the child of God. What is uncanny is that the child of God naively seeks these traps of Satan like a fool, which is something amazing.




The History and Roots of Rock and Roll

The expression “Rock and Roll” dates from the 50’s in the culture of Jazz and Blues, and refers to the rebellion of young people having sex in cars (“Rock’n Roll” is rocking a car as a couple is having sex in it.) This musical movement has come to represent rebellion against authority (although first, against God and its norms), and then against the authority of the parents, saturating the lives of young people, and also positioning themselves against government authorities.

1955-1960 Early Rock – It started as the “good times“: Fun and dance that created idols for young girls. It had influence from the Big Band era, African music, Jazz and Blues, etc. The strength of Rock originates in Africa and reaches the present. Rock music generates reactions in the body, because this is its design. It is no coincidence that the most distant religions of God in Africa use music very similar to Rock. When people listen to Rock, ‘n Roll, their body responds with sensual, carnal (erotic) movements. Gene Simmons of the KISS group said: “All Rock is sex, with rhythm” (Entertainment Tonight, ABC, Dec. 10, 1987).

1965-1970 English influence promoted free sex, drugs, rebellion, as entertainment “without danger“. Eastern religions such as “Transcendental Meditation” began appearing within the music.

1975-1980 the Hard Rock or Acid Rock. It was the time of promoting alcoholic excesses, drugs and sex, especially in Rock concerts. The lyrics preached rebellion, amorality and rejected all responsibility. The violence strongly entered in the music.

1985-1990 Heavy Metal (Metallic). The vices and extremes sprang up more openly, even in public. Shame for these excesses seemed not to exist, since they burned the conscience of millions of people with their music,

1Sam 12:14 If ye will fear the LORD, and serve him, and obey his voice, and not rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall both ye and also the king that reigneth over you continue following the LORD your God: 15 But if ye will not obey the voice of the LORD, but rebel against the commandment of the LORD, then shall the hand of the LORD be against you, as it was against your fathers.

Although the young people of that time (adults now 50 to 70 years old) believed that it was something “cool”, funny, fashionable, and they really thought it was good to “be rebellious” with their music, but the hand of God is against them for that. Rebellion is not something a child of God should participate in. Ps 5:10 Destroy thou them, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against thee. The Psalmist invokes the fury and wrath of God over rebellion because it is something totally opposed to God.




Rock transformed into a Religion

1Sam 15:23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry…

Rock is a false religion that goes against God. It concentrates on the two points of Samuel, “rebellion” and “obstinacy”, which are well identified as the essence of Rock. God identifies these essential elements in Rock as an ugly religion that assails God.

  • “If you think Rock is just music, you are wrong. Rock has always been about attitude. “- (Billy Poore, Rock: A Journey of Forty Years, page 113).

  • “Rock n Roll marked the beginning of the revolution. We combine youth, music, sex, drugs, and rebellion with betrayal, and this is a very difficult combination to overcome. “(Jerry Rubin, Do It! 1970. pp 19, 249).

  • “Rock music has always had the seeds of the forbidden … Rock n Roll has always been the adversary of many of the basic principles of Christianity.” (Michael Moynihan, Lord’s of Chaos, p x).

  • “What made Rock so different and a new style of music was its spirit, something that was on the edge of a mania. The singing of Elvis, ‘Good Rockin’ Tonight ‘was not music just for parties, but it was an invitation to an orgy. “(Nick Tosches, Country: The Twisted Roots of Rock n Roll, p 58).




Rock denies the Authority of Parents

Exod 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee. Eph 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;) 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

Rock ‘n Roll is equal to a spiritual movement in a musical war. The point of Rock and Roll is a challenge or denounce the authority over one-s self, specifically against the authority of one’s parents when one is underage. Satan wants that 1) we are not saved, and 2) that we go wrong in life even if we are saved. The most energetic way to achieve this is simply to generate attitudes and actions of rebellion against parents. Where does Rock take us? The music is full of suggestions to rebel against parents and any authority. The norms of God are targeted also. Rock basically opposes everything good and right that God wants us to do.

Deut 5:29 O that there were such an heart in them, that they would fear me, and keep all my commandments always, that it might be well with them, and with their children for ever!




Rock changes what “love” is

1John 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

First, Rock changes the meaning of the word “love”, from “have affection” (clean and pure) for physical sex. Its obsession and focus is on illicit sex. A lot of country music has this focus too.

But in addition to changing the idea of what love is, they change the object of affection from God and the morally good to anything pleasant to the flesh and to the desires. In the world of Rock, pleasure, entertainment, sex, excesses of alcohol and drugs, become addictions which they focus on. In the world of Rock, they make fun of God and the things of God, while becoming delirious for the carnal and worldly. All Christians fight with this, but why don’t we identify Rock as a source of worldliness and fight against it? Instead of fighting it, the “fans” of Rock manage to make people and music their “idols”. They hang on an unhealthy worship of the Rock musicians and imitate everything they can in these perverse people’s lifestyles.




Rock is a Lack of Restraint

Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love,… temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts.

The proof that something comes from God is that it helps you to live an orderly life (holy and godly) according to the example that God gives us.

The control of oneself (temperance) is the point, being the opposite of debauchery, or absence or little moral restraint. What distinguishes the child of God from a child of the Devil is that the Christian controls his passions and the desires of his flesh. Rock fulfills the Devil’s exact plan, releasing and impelling these carnal passions and desires, even promoting them. 2Cor 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The life of a Christian is now drastically different from his old life; it is like being born again, being remade into “new creature“. This process of applying the moral image of Christ in one’s self is called sanctification, and Rock and Roll is a means by which Satan opposes this image transformation by use of Rock.

1Cor 6:9 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

What pops out of this passage is that Paul defines what the Christian “is not.” Those who carry this evil character are not saved. Rock promotes exactly this list of sins. Promiscuous sex is a trophy of this movement, they all boast about it. Many Rockers are effeminates, homosexuals, or lesbians and they strongly promote these concepts through their music. This list of extreme vices seems to be exactly the model of life that Rock movement follows and promotes among their fans. How can a child of God be involved in this? Is there no judgment? Is there no discernment? …




Rock is a funnel for channeling al the trash of hell into one’s life

Eph 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.
1Thess 5:21 Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.

I ask the followers of Rock, if the lyrics of the songs, and the examples of their artists are so opposed to what God sends (and they are), then why follow Rock? Is not this like putting a funnel in your head and throwing all the garbage of the world there? Really, what’s so good about Rock music? Entertainment? Distraction only? … Think about it.




The Effects of Rock

Rock Music affects us, but overall, it is a form of rebellion against God.

  • What Rock promotes is an abomination to God.
  • You are doing harm to yourself by constantly exposing yourself to the ideas of these extreme sins.
  • Slowly you searing your conscience to not feel shock and rejection against these ideas 1Tim 4:2
  • You are also adopting a rebellious attitude against God…

Eph 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. 7 Be not ye therefore partakers with them. 8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
