Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. James 4:8

Fasting has different meanings for different people. The Bible presents fasting as much as a spiritual exercise as much it is just not eating. In Mat 4:2 we see that Jesus fasted 40 days and 40 nights, and then he was hungry.

Fasting is something that there is not a whole lot of instructions about it, but it seems that everyone knows what it is, and many practice fasting. The Bible binds the concepts many fasts and spirituality. The strong Christian is someone who fasts and prays a lot.

“Fasting helps us to express, to deepen, and to confirm the commitment that we are ready to sacrifice whatever thing, even to sacrifice ourselves, in order to obtain what we seek from God.” Andrew Murray Continue reading

doct02 Trinity: 1 God in 3 Persons

The Trinity: There is one God in Three Persons

[d02] v1 ©2006 www.coxtracts.com

(see website for restrictions and MSWord DOC copies)

The Bible presents that there is only one God, but that this single God exists in three persons which have an intimate relationship between the three persons. The Bible clearly indicates that the Father is God, the Son (Jesus Christ) is God, and that the Holy Spirit is God. There is no confusion of the persons (each is separate from the other two), nor division of the substance (even being distinct persons there is still only one God). Furthermore there is not more than one God. The resolution of this conflict is made through a teaching of the Trinity.

Submission and Head Coverings

1 Corinthians 11:3-16 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God. Every man praying or prophesying, having his head covered, dishonoureth his head. But every woman that prayeth or prophesieth with her head uncovered dishonoureth her head: for that is even all one as if she were shaven. For if the woman be not covered, let her also be shorn: but if it be a shame for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her be covered. For a man indeed ought not to cover his head, forasmuch as he is the image and glory of God: but the woman is the glory of the man. For the man is not of the woman; but the woman of the man. Neither was the man created for the woman; but the woman for the man. For this cause ought the woman to have power on her head because of the angels. Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord. For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God. Judge in yourselves: is it comely that a woman pray unto God uncovered? Doth not even nature itself teach you, that, if a man have long hair, it is a shame unto him? But if a woman have long hair, it is a glory to her: for her hair is given her for a covering. But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

The Church is built on foundation of Evangelism

Matt 16:18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Jesus declared his mission to be building up the church, and nothing will stop that, nor will anybody stop it. He emphasized the importance of the work of God, represented by the gospel and the organization of the saved into local churches. There are two strings in this, evangelism, and then the building of the saints to do the work of God. Christ will do it with us, through us, or without us. We want to be used by God in this His most important work. Continue reading

The Dress of a Christian Woman

In our world, worldly women generally think that they can dress any way they want. The three universal rules of worldly women seem to be: (1) it has to be comfortable, (2) it has to be attractive, i.e. sexual, sensual, or call attention to one’s self, and (3) it has to “fit” with modern fashion. The Christian woman should not be controlled by this concepts.

But then, what should be the rules that a Christian woman would follow as far as a dress code that pleases God? This is the matter of this tract.

Adam, Eve, and their Shame

Gen 2:25And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Gen 3:7 And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself. 11 And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? Continue reading

ch24 The power of an example

power of an Example

In the power of an Example, I examine the power of spiritual examples, both good examples for good influences, and evil examples for bad influences. This principle is a spiritual principle in the Bible, by which God affects his children through men of God. Likewise I look briefly at the power of evil examples on others, to trip them up into sin. We touch on Pastors and leaders in the local church, as well as parents’ influence on their children.

salv11 Valuing your Salvation

salvation

Salv11 Valuing your Salvation is a tract about how you need to estimate highly Jesus Christ and your salvation through him if you are really to be saved. We are saved by grace which God gives to us through our faith in Jesus the Savior. We are not saved by works. But also, the truly saved will love and highly esteem (place high priorities on the things of God) if they are truly saved.

Catholicism and Ecumenism supporting error

By David Cox

Summary: Catholicism and Ecumenism examines how the Catholic Church is using Ecumenism to deceive other religions to unite with them in some way. TOPICS: What is Ecumenism? | A Change of Tactics | There is only one doctrine given to us from God and the Apostles | The Ecumenical Tactic | Our Biblical Attitude towards Falsehood

Ezequiel 13:10 Yes, because they deceived my people, saying: Peace, there being no peace ; …

Jeremiah 6:14 And they heal the wound of my people with lightness, saying: Peace, peace; And there is no peace.

There are many groups that call for peace between different religions in the world. They want to see a union between religions, and they want Christianity to recognize and work with other religious groups opposed to true Christianity. Ecumenism is attentive towards forming this union for religious peace, and simply ecumenism is to take steps to unite our beliefs with other groups to make an amalgamation between all groups.
