Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; Ecc 12:1

The Rock group called “The Suicide Girls” make money by promoting the concept of suicide. In fact, there are fads among our youth like the Emus which also promote this concept among our youth as something really great. These elements are floating around among our youth which glamorize suicide, such as a game where they actually hang themselves in their closet, and then remove the rope before actually dying to see how close to death they can get. Many times they err and actually die before they can free themselves. The culture among these groups is a study of suicide to worship it and promote suicide pacts making it romantic and desirable.

In 1995 in the United Status, the CDC in Atlanta did a study on suicide among 10,904 high school students. In the 12 months before the study, 24% had seriously thought of suicide, and 17.7% had actually a specific plan of how to do it, and 8.7% had tried to do it, and 2.8% had been somehow injured in their attempts. There is a suicide in the US every 17 minutes. It is the 11th cause of death in the general population, and it is the 3rd cause of death among youth (15-24), after accidents (1st), and homicide (2nd). There are more suicide deaths in the general population than homicides. ((http://www.suicide.org/suicide-statistics.html))

Jer 3:15 And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding.

God has prepared the life of each believer in relation with a congregation and local community of believers, where there should be at least one man of God that “pastors them”. To pastor is to spiritually take care of the believers.

This is the heart of God and it is his promise (Jeremiah 3:15). But the problem with many churches is that they do not understand or know what are the duties of a pastor (and at times neither does the pastor), so we need to search the Scriptures to understand God’s teaching on this matter, what are the duties and responsibilities of a pastor.

The themes of punishment and judgment are mentioned some 234 times in 264 chapters of the NT. It is interesting that we know more about hell through the teaching of Jesus Christ than any other person or source. It occupied a very important place in the mind of Christ, and he warned those who would listen so that they would avoid that place and the punishment that is there.

The Spirit in the Old Testament

In the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came upon and left individuals. Samson (Judges 14:6, 19; 15:14), Saul (1 Sam 10:6, 10), Ezekiel (Eze. 11:5) all had the Holy Spirit come upon them to fill them for a service to God. Few believers had the Holy Spirit “in” them (Eze. 2:2; 3:24) even though King David had the Spirit always in him (1 Sam 16:13). Even so David felt that God had cut fellowship with him when David walked in sin. Psalm 51.11 Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.

Also, the Spirit of God is that which fights against sin within man. Isaiah 63:10 But they rebelled, and vexed (angered) his Holy Spirit: therefore he was turned to be their enemy, and he fought against them. Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said, My Spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh… (Acts 7:51). Continue reading

_______________

The Way Things Are

Gen 8:21 for the imagination of man’s heart [is] evil from his youth

Even God Himself recognizes that in this stage of life, the wickedness of the heart begins and really gets going strongly in the human heart.

Youth is a difficult time, whatever the person or his situation. Actually, at the age of 13 to 18, the human body undergoes a lot of changes. The hormones start kicking in, and a child becomes an adult. It is a time of transition to an adult which is when the body goes (height) as well as becomes fully functioning. Youth begin to have a sexual life in that they are physically mature enough to have sex, have babies, and they begin to think about this (again their hormones are at work).

Psa 129:1 Many a time have they afflicted me from my youth, may Israel now say: 2 any a time have they afflicted me from my youth: yet they have not prevailed against me. Continue reading
