Deuteronomy 18:9 When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10 There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch, 11 Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
Witchcraft is the abominable practice (in God’s estimation) that has to do with “spirits” and spiritual forces as instruments to achieve what one wants. Using witchcraft and other related practices, one ignores God as THE RESOURCE for help in this life.

What is Witchcraft?
Many people do not understand what witchcraft is really. But we first must understand the biblical foundation before understanding witchcraft. There is only one true God, and He created us, and He is over us. We must worship this God because He is our Creator, and we seek His moral guidance in life, and for whatever thing we need or want, we must go to Him to see if it is what we should be seeking and asking Him for.
Having said that, witchcraft is to seek spirits or occult (hidden) principles in order to get what we want (our will).
1 Samuel 15:22 And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams. 23 For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.
Saul did not obey what God commanded him to do, but followed his own will, and this absolutely.
In witchcraft, their foundation is to deny God, to deny the existence of God, or if God exists, to presume that God is not the best way to get what you want.
Psalms 100:3 Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
How do you Practice Witchcraft?
In modern and classic witchcraft, they both are going to tell you that there are two important points that they use constantly, occult principles and spiritual helpers.
v This is basically a presumption that God does not exist, or if He exists, God himself is restricted by some principles that He must obey. These are general “occult” or hidden principles, but they believe that human beings (witches and warlocks) can invoke these principles as a spiritual tool to achieve anything they desire.
Refutation. Firstly, there are spiritual principles, but they are not independent of God but part of His moral character, His person. God is not restricted by them, but these spiritual and moral principles have life and force over the universe because they are products of the power and moral character of God. The Bible explains that these things are for us, but we cannot understand them, much less use then without seeing the foundation of the perfect will of God. They do not function as a weapon or instrument that one can use against the purposes and will of God.
The Druids and people who believe in Mother Earth are people who have taken up this concept today, such that the ecological movement and to protect the earth and save it “from human beings” as if we are invaders of our own planet earth, or we are parasites on her.
God created the planet for us. We are not foreigners or parasites on earth, but the earth is for us. Acts 17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth… 28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being… The important point here is that we are to be occupied in the will of God, and it is morally correct that we “occupy” the planet. Our mere existence here, is now seen in the world as a sinful moral problem (by these people). We should not eat meat, nor consume anything which God has provided us, and even breathing to live is a moral sin, because it produces carbon dioxide that “damages the earth”.
Spiritual Guides. The foundation of this part of witchcraft is that they believe that spirits exist that may be evil, or good, or neutral. By invoking them in some form, you can make them serve your purposes. This is spiritism. The error here is that humans think that they can control and use them for their personal use, and that there will not be any bad consequences. But we see that the Bible strongly prohibits having anything at all to do with them. The prohibitions are dealing with mediums (humans that intercede between other humans and these spirits).
Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
Firstly, a “familiar spirit” H178 comes from the word bubbling, or skin, or thing that has a sound made, ventriloquist, fortune teller, charming, evoking spirits, or ghosts (Strong’s Dictionary). A H3049 diviner is a connoisseur, or conjurer for ghosts (Strong’s Dictionary). Technically speaking, a spirit, demon, or angel can be a creature that was once in heaven and began its existence there. But a ghost is supposedly the spirit of a dead human being. (Necromancy is the witchcraft word for contacting the dead.)
A good example is Saul in 1 Samuel 28:8 with the witch or medium of Endor (a woman with a spirit of fortune-telling). See 1 Samuel 10:13-14. The other famous case is the girl in Acts 16:16-19, which equally earned money for her owners. This evil is simply to go to the spirits or supposed spirits of humans that died for help. Many times, there is an intermediary that is called a medium or fortune-teller. Supposedly, they can foretell the future, consult with the dead, or consult with powers that are not human (spirits without definition really) that can help you with something in your life.
Leviticus 20:6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
Note that in Leviticus 19:31, that using or consulting with one of these is a spiritual contamination with this wickedness in the sight of God. It is an abomination before God and the purpose of God and should be opposed at all costs.
Deuteronomy 18:12 For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee.
2 Kings 21:6 And he (Manasseh) made his son pass through the fire, and observed times, and used enchantments, and dealt with familiar spirits and wizards: he wrought much wickedness in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.
The Importance of Rejecting It
Exodus 22:18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Leviticus 20:6 And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people.
In the sight of God, witches should die the death penalty by civil authorities. In other words, in God’s thinking, these people that get involved with spirits, demons, and the occult arts should die, because of the gravity of wrong that they are doing. A believer in Jesus Christ should therefore have nothing to do with them.
Galatians 5:19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these… witchcraft… of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
How is witchcraft a manifestation of the flesh? It is because they do not want to seek God, so they seek out other spirits, evil spirits, instead.
How to Reject it?
Acts 19:18 And many that believed came, and confessed, and shewed their deeds. 19 Many of them also which used curious arts brought their books together, and burned them before all men: and they counted the price of them, and found it fifty thousand pieces of silver. 20 So mightily grew the word of God and prevailed.
Believers in the time of the New Testament practiced magic and these occult arts, and when they converted to Christ, they left all this totally, and only in doing so, did the work of God grow.
Leviticus 19:26 Ye shall not eat anything with the blood: neither shall ye use enchantment, nor observe times. Zechariah 10:2 For the idols have spoken vanity, and the diviners have seen a lie, and have told false dreams; they comfort in vain: therefore they went their way as a flock, they were troubled, because there was no shepherd. Malachi 3:5 And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers….
“Vain” is not having the truth, not to have something that correctly corresponds to eternity, something that does not have value in eternity. Magic is this vanity. Why do you let yourself be attracted to it then?
Conclusion
We can include with the spirits and spells that many people abandon God to solve their problems and needs by their own power (WITHOUT GOD). This is equally wicked as witchcraft.
2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
The principal matter is to seek God to solve all your problems and to seek God for all your provision.
Isaiah 8:19 And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?
In place of seeking help from witches, magic, and spirits, supposedly of dead people, shouldn’t we only go to our God for help? Even the good angels are going to direct us to God, and they will not do as Lucifer has done.
If you die right now, will you go to heaven? If you are not sure, read this tract to know how.

A carpenter making his own tools is an explanation of why I, Pastor-Missionary David Cox, write my own material. I like the idea of producing the material that we use in our ministry and also for evangelism.
