ch43 Time to leave your church?

When is it time to leave your church?

Phil 2:2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, [being] of one accord, of one mind.

Every good Christian will have a serious relationship with a group of brethren (a local church) of the same faith and practice that you have, and if you have incorporated yourself into their activities and fellowship, leaving will be difficult, and it should be. Your reasons for leaving should be taken because of definite events, attitudes, practices, or doctrines in that church that make you feel that you are “not the same as they are”, that they do not have the same love of Christ as you, because they do not follow Christ according to Scripture (in teachings, doctrine, practices, attitudes, etc), there is a rupture between you that forces your physical separation from that group. You should first try to examine your own spirit, to see if you are wrong, then talk with leaders in the church group to try and resolve the problem. After prayer, no resolution, you need to go to the pastor or leaders and tell them you are troubled, and will seek another church. Continue reading

Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; Ecc 12:1

The Rock group called “The Suicide Girls” make money by promoting the concept of suicide. In fact, there are fads among our youth like the Emus which also promote this concept among our youth as something really great. These elements are floating around among our youth which glamorize suicide, such as a game where they actually hang themselves in their closet, and then remove the rope before actually dying to see how close to death they can get. Many times they err and actually die before they can free themselves. The culture among these groups is a study of suicide to worship it and promote suicide pacts making it romantic and desirable.

In 1995 in the United Status, the CDC in Atlanta did a study on suicide among 10,904 high school students. In the 12 months before the study, 24% had seriously thought of suicide, and 17.7% had actually a specific plan of how to do it, and 8.7% had tried to do it, and 2.8% had been somehow injured in their attempts. There is a suicide in the US every 17 minutes. It is the 11th cause of death in the general population, and it is the 3rd cause of death among youth (15-24), after accidents (1st), and homicide (2nd). There are more suicide deaths in the general population than homicides. ((http://www.suicide.org/suicide-statistics.html))

Not given to filthy lucre… teaching things which they ought not, for filthy’s lucre’s sake. Even a prophet of their own said the Cretians are always liars, evil beasts, slow bellies” Titus 1:7-12

Is Benny Hinn a great man of God filled with faith, gifted with the powers of healing and doing miracles or is he a false prophet? Well the truth is that he is no man of God, because every true man of God obeys the will of God, and follows the Word of God. Hinn was pastor of the church, “Orlando Christian Center” in Orlando, Florida, and later pastored “World Outreach Church” and after that “Faith World Church” when he launched himself into evangelism. Actually, he is the source and spokesman for the Word of Faith movement. Hinn takes in 100 million dollars a year, and lives in a $3.5 million dollar mansion, and stays in $2000/night hotels. He wrote “Good morning Holy Spirit,” which was very popular and sold 250,000 copies in the first two months.

Luke 17:5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

The apostles made a simple request. Jesus had taught them about faith. But the main point for them was that Jesus himself is the Messiah, the Christ, God incarnate so that He can give us salvation. It was almost impossible to believe this, but if you can find ever so small a piece of faith to believe it, like a small seed, it will grow to great proportions. With time, it will grow like a great, strong, and large tree. But as with the cultivation of trees, there are matters that are very important to observe.

John 4:48 Then said Jesus unto him, except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

The problem then is this of doubting, of wanting evidence, and this is the opposite of faith. The lack of faith is to doubt God, His power and ability to work.

Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent:   hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? Titus 1:2… God which cannot lie promised…

Heb 6:18 it was impossible for God to lie… Psalms 101:7.

Exodus 23:2 Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment.

Many Christians seem defenseless when there is a lot of pressure from their friends or acquaintances to get them to “go along” with incorrect things, or in what doesn’t please God.

To be a Christian, the person absolutely has to have moral strength and courage to stand against the world and even against his friends at times, to declare what God says in the Bible as this is what we have to do, and definitely declare that the Bible way is what the Christian will do, even if there is a lot of pressure from others to do incorrect things. Pleasing God overrules pleasing friends.

The Marks of a Christian according to 1 John

The Apostle John in his first epistle presents us with the marks of a true Christian. It is important that every Christian meditates on whether he himself is a true Christian, and if he is truly saved, and a part of the body of Christ. No member of a body can exists alone, apart from the rest of the body, without having exchange with the rest of the members of the body. The Christian must base his spiritual life in identification with this body of Christ, and with the work of God that makes up the body of Christ, and to function within that body.

To understand this, we need to study Matthew 25:31-46.  God is going to judge each person as being saved or not by how they have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The point of this teaching is to make us understand that our love of Christ (which is absolutely necessary to be saved) manifests itself in our relationship with the rest of our Christian brethren.

John declares in his first epistle who are our brethren with whom we must do to show our true love of God. By establishing these marks God helps us not to fail in tricks and traps with deceivers or people seeking to take advantage of our love of Christ without them loving Christ.

Matt 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Our relationships with other people are a serious problem in almost everyone’s life. We have quarrels and contentions and bad relationships with others, and this is the “very fabric” of life. The problem with all of this is that God sees the reality of your faith through the changes made in you, and these changes are more important in terms of your relationships with others in this life, especially with your brethren in Christ. Furthermore, God’s purpose for us is to minister to God, to be a blessing to others. That is why salvation is a moral change, a real change. Because of this, we must be proactive in doing good to others, not reacting to how they treat us. Read the context: Luke 6: 27-36

Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?

There are people who say that the Christian must seek the Holy Spirit. In this common concept, the “arrival” of the Holy Spirit is accompanied by certain “evidence” which is normally one or more: speaking in tongues, falling on the floor and rolling back and forth, strong convulsions, a certain losing of control of the body by oneself. While the Bible speaks of the baptism of the Holy Spirit, or to say it precisely, that the believer is baptized in the Holy Spirit, this “evidence” does not appear in the Bible. Moreover, this evidence is seen as mental illness or the activity of demons. These “manifestations” are what the mystery religions believed and are not biblical. The presence of the Holy Spirit is only seen in holiness and piety in the life of the person.
